Originally built to house the art collection of Joseph Shipley, the Shipley Art Gallery is an architectural jewel in the heart of Gateshead. The gallery is an excellent example of Edwardian architecture which would add grandeur and a sense of occasion to a range of corporate and private events. The elegant gallery houses a variety of permanent and temporary exhibitions and provides a spacious location for a variety of PR events, functions, dinners and concerts.

The elegant main gallery houses a variety of permanent and temporary exhibitions and, along with the adjoining Designs for Life and beautiful side galleries, provides a spacious, alternative location for a variety of celebrations, dinners and concerts.
The gallery offers a unique opportunity for you to hire in a caterer and bar provider of your choice. Please note that terms and conditions apply.

Parking facilities
The Shipley is off the main A167 road into Newcastle and there is limited, free street parking outside the Gallery.
Public transport

Weddings
The elegant main gallery space, which displays a variety of treasures from the Shipley collection, can be hired exclusively for wedding ceremonies for up to 120 guests, drinks receptions for up to 120 guests and wedding breakfasts for up to 80 guests. The smaller side galleries are also licensed for more intimate ceremonies and can be used as an alternative space for drinks receptions.

Daytime meetings and practical group activities
The Shipley workshop/learning room
The Shipley has a fully equipped workshop/learning room, which is available for daytime hire. This room is an ideal location for a variety of meetings, training sessions or practical group activities. Equipped with a sink and durable flooring, this is an ideal space for hands-on, creative activities. There are adjoining toilets, and tea and coffee facilities, making it easy to facilitate breaks for your group.
Availability
The Workshop can be booked from 10am – 4pm Tuesday to Friday, and 10am – 5pm on Saturday, at £30 per hour. Booking is essential and subject to availability.
